June 20
1937 - W2XBS (later WCBS-TV) televised the first TV operetta. The work was the "Pirates of Penzance" by Gilbert and Sullivan.
1973 - American Bandstand celebrated its 20th anniversary with a 90-minute television special. Little Richard, Paul Revere & the Raiders, Cheech and Chong and Three Dog Night made appearances.

June 21
1732 - Composer Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach was born.
1868 - Wagner's opera "Meistersinger von Nuernberg" premiered in Munich
1948 - Columbia Records began the first mass production of the 33 1/3 RPM LP.
1978 - Andrew Lloyd Webber and Rice's musical "Evita," premiers in London
1990 - Little Richard received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

June 22
1947 - Don Henley, drummer/singer (Eagles), born
1953 - Cyndi Ann Stephanie Lauper born in Brooklyn
1968 - The Jeff Beck group made its U.S. debut in New York at The Fillmore East.
1987 - Fred Astaire dies at 88
1990 - Billy Joel became the first rock artist to perform at Yankee Stadium.

June 23
1814 - Adolphe (Antoine Joseph) Sax was born. He was the inventor of the saxophone.
1824 - Composer Carl Heinrich Carsten Reinecke was born.
1943 - James Levine, musical conductor/dir (Metropolitan Opera, Boston Symphony), born in Cincinnati
1975 - Alice Cooper fell off the set of his "Welcome To My Nightmare" tour in Vancouver and broke six ribs.
2003 - In London, Eminem gave a $450,000 necklace to a fan in the front row of a concert. He had announced while from the stage that "I'm going to give this to the sexiest woman I see."

June 24
1935 - Terry Riley, composer, born in Colfax CA
1942 - Mick Fleetwood (Fleetwood Mac) born in London
1944 - Jeff Beck, guitarist, born in Surrey England
1992 - Billy Joel got his high school diploma. He had overslept and missed English and Gym finals 25 years before
2003 - Beyoncé Knowles released her debut solo album "Dangerously in Love".

June 25
1945 - Carly Simon born in New York City
1956 - Reinhold M Gliere, Ukrainian conductor/composer, died at 81
1995 - Pearl Jam canceled their tour because of an ongoing feud with Ticketmaster.
2003 - The Recording Industry Association of America disclosed its plans to fight Internet piracy. The plan was to sue hundreds of individual computer users who illegally share music files online. The process was planned to begin the next day.

June 26
1870 - Wagner's opera Die Walküre (The Valkyrie) premiered in Munich
1964 - The Beatles released "A Hard Day’s Night"
1975 - Cher divorced Sonny Bono
1977 - Elvis Presley's final concert took place at Market Square Arena, Indianapolis.
